About The Trainers

Recreation Services personal trainers have developed their personal training skills by working with clients in one-on-one and group settings through previous employment in health and fitness clubs, YMCA's, community recreation programs or through classroom experiences.  Trainers are certified through a national organization and hold certifications in CPR/AED, Blood Borne Pathogens, and First Aid.

Yoga Trainers

Deborah Brandt

Debbie has studied yoga for over twenty years and has taught yoga for more than twelve years.  In addition to teaching with Recreation Services for the past yen years, Debbie has taught yoga at Northern Prairie Massage School, Kishwaukee College, and Lotus Moon Yoga Center.

Debbie has a degree in psychology from Northwestern University with a minor in Oriental Religions.  She has completed two years of study at The Jung Institute of Chicago.  Deborah teaches a slow paced style of hatha yoga and is particularly interested in therapeutic applications of yoga.  She is deeply interested in the body-mind connection and how one can deepen his/her consciousness through movement.

Deborah is also a practicing herbalist, and provides Japanese acupressure and Reiki.  She is a 3rd degree Reiki Master.
