Outing Centre Employment Opportunities

The Outdoor Adventures program employs ten to fifteen students with a background in outdoor and adventure recreation as Trip Leaders and Outing Centre Attendants.  Numerous Trip Leaders have gained experiences through the Boy Scouts or Venturing Program.  Individuals with strong backgrounds in outdoor programming are encouraged to apply.  An Outing Centre Attendant application and specific job descriptions can be viewed on our employment page.

Trip Leader Application Process

Trip Leader applications are accepted during the first two months of the fall semester. Potential Trip Leader candidates are interviewed in November and participate in a semester-long training process during the following spring semester.  New Trip Leaders lead and assist on trips during the fall semester following training. 

  • Trip Leader responsibilities include, but are not limited to, planning and leading trips for students who are interested in participating in outdoor recreational activities. 
  • Trips include backpacking, camping, spelunking (crawling in caves), rock climbing, kayaking and more!  
    Many participants have never tried these activities. 
  • Enthusiasm and experience in several of the various areas are a must. 
  • The following is required to be considered for a Trip Leader position: 
    • Completed Trip Leader application 
    • COVER LETTER detailing why you would like to be considered for the position
    • RESUME primarily focusing on your outdoor experience (adventure club, Boy or Girl Scouts, etc.)
    • All items, stapled together (top-left hand corner), should be turned in at the Outing Centre.
  • Notes Regarding Employment: 
    • Criminal background checks are completed as part of the application process. 
    • A clean driving record is mandatory.  This includes no moving violations.
