The Outdoor Adventure program provides Northern Illinois University students, faculty, staff, and Recreation Services members with opportunities to experience outdoor activities while promoting wilderness education. Trips and clinics promote responsible stewardship of the environment and natural resources. Trips are designed to be fun yet educational. Our motto is "No Student Left Indoors."
The headquarters for Outdoor Adventures is The Outing Centre (OC), located on the west side of the Student Recreation Center. Individuals or groups that are interested in trips and activities are directed to go to the OC to register. The OC also provides outdoor gear rental for sponsored or personal outdoor adventure trips, along with a resource center to assist in helping participants plan their own trips.
Recreation Services and the Outdoor Adventures program is committed to providing excellent opportunities for sharpening adventure skills, making new friends, or just enjoying what the local outdoor settings have to offer. Join the Outdoor Adventures staff for an experience of a lifetime!
