Fee-paying NIU students on the DeKalb campus are automatically members for the current semester. Recreation Services also offers affordable memberships for:
Memberships can be purchased online or in person at the Student Recreation Center during regular building hours. To purchase a membership online, click on the membership type you wish to purchase.
Membership Benefits
Current memberships with Recreation Services include access to both the Student Recreation Center and the Chick Evans Field House. Within those facilities, members are able to utilize the:
- Cardio and Strength Training Rooms and equipment
- Racquetball/wallyball courts
- Multipurpose courts
- Locker rooms with dry saunas
- Indoor tracks
- Sports equipment check-out
- Numerous programs and services (some at an additional cost)
NEW! Beginning with Fall, 2009 and annual memberships sold after August 1, 2009, memberships will include the above listed ammenities PLUS use of Anderson and Gabel Hall pools for open and lap swimming! NIU Faculty and Staff memberships will also include the following additional ammenities:
- One group cardio equipment orientation*
- One group strength training session*
- One group nutrition session*
- Special Faculty/Staff group fitness classes*
*As available. Must register in advance online or in person at the Student Recreation Center.
Special Passes

Pool passes for open and lap swimming are available for non-members. After August 1, 2009, members will not need an additional pool pass.

Members can sponsor a maximum of two guests per day.
Guest passes can be purchased at the Student Recreation Center Service Counter and are valid for 24 hours from the date on which they are purchased.

Short-Term Passes are also an option for persons wishing to use the Student Recreation Center or Chick Evans Field House on an interim basis or at staggered times throughout the year. Short-term passes do not require member sponsorship and have limited membership privileges.
Facility Tours
Tours of the Recreation Services Facilities are available during all open building hours. For tours of the Student Recreation Center, stop by the Service Counter located inside the front door of the Student Recreation Center. For tours of the Chick Evans Field House, stop by the Field House Service Counter.
