Student Recreation Center
The Student Recreation Center is the focal point of NIU Recreation. The building serves 2,000 patrons daily, and features 125,000 square feet of play and workout space, abundant exercise and sports equipment, and numerous services to meet patrons' recreation and fitness needs.
The Student Recreation Center houses the following:
- 8 multipurpose courts for Open Recreation and Recreation Services programs such as basketball, volleyball, tennis, badminton, and table tennis
- A cardio and strength training room featuring cardio machines such as treadmills, elliptical trainers, bikes, rowers, climbers, and weight selector stations
- A strength training room with free weights
- A 3-lane, 1/5 mile track
- 9 racquetball/walleyball courts
- 2 activity rooms
- The Outing Centre
- Men's and women's locker rooms with saunas
- Meeting room
- A juice bar and lobby area
