Sample Paper Excerpt

A researcher is preparing to submit a manuscript describing a study testing the effectiveness of specifically developed educational interventions to increase compliance to a medical regimen among tuberculosis patients of a public health clinic. Compliance is defined as 96% of appointments kept. There are three intervention groups (educational counseling, incentive, and educational counseling/incentive combination) as well as a control group.

The researcher states the following working hypothesis in the manuscript:

Ho1: On average, tuberculosis patients in the intervention groups and the control group will differ in their mean level of compliance.

The researcher uses an ANOVA to demonstrate differences among the groups.
