Shanthi Karuppusamy is Assistant Professor in the division of public administration and department of political science at NIU. Karuppusamy received her Ph.D. degree in political science from Wayne State University in 2012. She has an M.A. in public administration and an M.A. in English literature from the University of Madras, Tamil Nadu, India and B.A. in English literature from The Ethiraj College for Women, Tamil Nadu, India. Karuppusamy’s teaching and research interests are in local government structure and administration, public administration, public policy, and regional governance. She has taught American government, public administration, public policy, and urban politics and policy as GTA and adjunct faculty at Wayne State University. She has ongoing research programs focused on regional governance, epistemic communities and municipal finance reform. Her research has been published in the American Review of Public Administration, Urban Affairs Review and Urban Studies.
