Unger and Center for Southeast Asian Studies Secure Funding from Thailand
The Royal Government of Thailand has awarded The Center for Southeast Asian Studies a grant and endowment support totaling nearly $110,000 to initiate and sustain education, research, and exchange involving Thailand and Southeast Asia. Over the course of more than a year, POLS Professor Danny Unger worked closely with officials from the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs, including Director General of North American Affairs Division Khun Nongnuth, Charge d'Affaires at the Thai Embassy in Washington D.C. Khun Damrong, and Consul General of the Thai consulate in Chicago, Khun Narong, paving the way for this award. Danny with assistance from Professor John Hartman (Foreign Languages), Grant Olson (Foreign Languages), Ete Olson (University Libraries), and Ann Wright-Parsons (Anthropology) submitted the request for support to the Thai government at the end of 2007. Well done, Danny!
