Chris Jones Named Great Professor

Chris Jones and John Peters

Congratulations to Chris Jones for winning the 2008 "Great Professor" Award given by the University Honors Program and presented by NIU President John Peters (above). In addition to his exceptional in-class instruction, Chris was chosen based on his involvement in supervising honors theses, teaching honors overload courses (even while serving as chair!), and general commitment to the Honors program. This is yet another great award won by one of our faculty or students and is reflective of Chris's commitment to undergraduate education.

Chris has long been recognized for his outstanding teaching. His previous teaching awards and honors include:

  • Winner, University's Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching Award (2002)
  • Outstanding Teaching in Political Science, American Political Science Association (2002, 2008)
  • Nominee, University's Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching Award (2000, 2002)
  • Winner, Phi Sigma Zeta Outstanding Undergraduate Teaching Award (2000, 2002)
  • Who's Who Among America's Teachers (1998, 2002, 2004, 2005)
  • Teaching Honors at Syracuse University and Whittier College (1992, 1993, 1996)
