CLA&S Golden Anniversary Faculty-Staff Awards

April 2010

NIU’s College of Liberal Arts and Sciences has chosen to honor 10 distinguished faculty and staff with a Golden Anniversary Faculty/Staff Award as part of the year-long 50th anniversary celebration. Selected from a large group of peers nominated for the award, the 10 honorees distinguished themselves by making a strong, positive difference in the development, growth and stature of the college during the last 50 years.

“The Golden Anniversary Faculty/Staff Awards recognize individuals who provided outstanding leadership and service to the college – in teaching, research, service, administration, program development and expansion,” said Dean Christopher K. McCord. “Their achievements are very much in evidence today, in the Departments of Computer Science, English, Foreign Languages & Literatures, Geography, Mathematical Sciences, Political Science and Physics; the Division of Public Administration; and the Center for Southeast Asian Studies.”

The Department of Political Science is very pleased to announce that three former chairs of the Department -- James Banovetz, William Monat, and Daniel Wit -- have been selected for this honor. These individuals made exceedingly important contributions to the Department, the Division of Public Administration, the College, the University, and the world beyond NIU. Please join us in extending hearty congratulations to Bill, Dan, and Jim on this impressive recognition. For more information on each of the Department's award winners, see the links below.
