Why Progressive Learning in Undergraduate Studies (PLUS)?

It is the endeavor of the Northern Illinois University PLUS Task Force to complete a progressive undergraduate curricular revision plan by September 2014. We have benchmarked other successful institutions and sought input from the NIU community. We have concluded that better integration of the Baccalaureate experience is essential for improving student success, and should be focused in three specific curricular areas:

  1. Formalize student participation in high impact practices;
  2. Improve general education integration and flexibility;
  3. Operationalize the baccalaureate student learning goals and outcomes.
