Schmitt (ed.), Socializing Metaphysics
COURSE CONTENT We will read and discuss articles on such topics as the limits of legitimate state action, the case for democracy (majoritarian decision-making), the status of the family, and the concepts of justice, equality, and property. Special attention will be given to metaphysical issues concerning collective agency.
COURSE FORMAT This will be a seminar, with student giving reports and leading discussions. A substantial term paper will be required.
