Affirmative Action Diversity Resources (AADR): No report.
The Campus Climate and Quality of Life subcommittee chair Kathy Lockard reported that the House has passed something regarding counterceptives but it doesn’t include us. She recently attended a Voices workshop and found it very worth while. She strongly encourages all members to attend a workshop. The recently created Voices brochure was distributed to members. Additional copies are available from Diane Pospisil-Kinney, SOAR Coordinator, Counseling Student Development Center (753-9103).
The draft letter to President Peters regarding Campus Safety was discussed. It was felt that we should revise the letter to encourage resources for ongoing efforts towards broader coverage to protect students, faculty and staff and increase consequences for non-participation in workshops.
The Personal and Professional Development subcommittee chair Jie Song reported the April 9th Networking Luncheon is proceeding well. Mrs. Peters will be speaking in the ballroom. Sheri Kallembach and her sub-committee (Karen Baker, Stacy Elder, and Jie Song) have made the Suite Drive arrangements with the Clothes Closet at Kishwaukee College.
The Research subcommittee has broadened its membership to include women and minority members as reported by Deborah Haliczer. They have split the subcommittee into two working groups: one quantitative and one qualitative. They are also discussing joint appointments and the fact that the bylaws do not seem to cover them. This brings a series of issues and questions regarding policy.
For the Awards subcommittee: There were five nominations for the Wilma D. Stricklin Award this year: Sue Doederlein, Gail Jackey, Scheree Howard, Deborrah Pettit, Diana Steele. Sue Doederlein was chosen as this year's recipient. We received 85 nominations for the Outstanding Women Student Awards and will be presenting 47 awards on Honors Day, April 13th. There are 10 entries for the Martha Cooper Journalism Award this year. The award will be presented at the Journalism banquet April 25th.
Due to the recent budget cuts the PCSW FY04 budget will be cut 3% ($300.00). The university covered the current FY03 budget cuts; however, they are unable to continue this. All units are being required to reduce their budgets during this current recision.
