Outstanding Mentoring Award

Outstanding Mentor Award is presented each year to one or two NIU civil service, professional staff, or faculty employees.  The objective of this recognition award program, created in 2007, is to recognize individuals (male or female) who have shown exceptional commitment to advancing the career and/or educational goals of NIU women students, staff, and/or faculty.  Someone who consistently acts as an exemplary teacher/coach/advisor/facilitator/resource in helping NIU women achieve career and/or educational goals; and creates opportunities that help proteges achieve their goals.  A person who demonstrates the characteristics of an outstanding role model within their area of expertise.   A certificate and engraved Lucite paperweight will be presented to chosen recipients at a presentation in April.

Eligibility

NIU civil service or  professional staff or faculty. One time award.

Criteria

  • shows exceptional commitment to advancing the career and/or educational goals of NIU women students, staff, and/or faculty

  • demonstrates the characteristics of an outstanding role model within their area of expertise
