Borrow a Bike

The Borrow-a-Bike program provides students, faculty and staff with a free alternative mode of transportation for getting around campus.  Students, faculty and staff may check out a bike through the Borrow-a-Bike program at no cost.  To borrow a bike, bring your OneCard to the Campus Parking Services office during regular business hours (7:30a.m. to 4:00p.m.), complete a bike loan form and choose a bike.

A lock and optional helmet are furnished with each bike.  Bikes and equipment may be borrowed for up to two weeks and can be renewed for an indefinite period of time.  Equipment can be returned to or renewed at the Campus Parking Services office during regular business hours.

A borrower will be charged for any equipment that is returned late, in damaged condition, or not returned at all.  Late fees are assessed at $5.00 per day for each day beyond the bicycle's due date.  Lost or damaged equipment will be assessed at replacement cost, plus 10 days fine.  Replacement costs are assessed at $300.00 for a lost or damaged bicycle, $40.00 for a lost or damaged light, $40.00 for a lost or damaged helmet, or $20.00 for a lost or damaged lock.

The State of Illinois maintains an excellent resource for cyclists, providing safety tips, rules of the road and bike maintenance information.
