Lot Closings and Construction Updates:
+ Portions of the NIU Parking Garage will be closed for lighting replacement beginning April 9, 2012. This closure will impact only a small portion of the parking garage at a time and vehicles will still be able to access each floor at all times. Please be aware that certain areas will be closed and you may need to plan alternative parking arrangements if the garage is full. This project is anticipated to last until June 1, 2012. Thank you for your cooperation as we work to maintain our parking areas.
+ The NIU Parking Garage will be closed for cleaning and maintenance from May 19, 2012 through May 24, 2012. Please contact us at 815-753-1045 or parking@niu.edu if you need assistance locating alternative parking areas. Thank you for your cooperation as we work to maintain our parking areas.
+ Stairwell #4, located in the northwest corner of the parking garage, will close for repairs and maintenance beginning May 14, 2012. The repairs are expected to last four weeks. The remaining three stairwells in the parking garage will stay open during construction.
+ A large portion of Gilbert Drive, Lot 4, will close for construction beginning in March of 2012. A portion of Lot 4 will close in order to facilitate completion of the Gilbert Residence Hall remodel in March of next year. Exact dates and additional information will be forthcoming.
+ Additional rows of parking spaces will be closed in Lot X beginning October 24, 2011. Construction on the new residence hall continues to move quickly and additional parking spaces are needed to accommodate the completion of the facility by August 2012. The 4 rows of parking spaces in Lot X to the west of the existing construction fence will be closed until August 2012. The remaining portion of Lot X will remain open for blue, orange, and yellow permit holders. We appreciate your support and cooperation as we help facilitate the completion of the new residence hall.
