Undergraduate students in the Department of Mechanical Engineering are learning core subjects within mechanical engineering by playing a car racing video game. Students do not play in the traditional way, joystick in hand, honing one's eye-hand coordination. Instead, they devise driving algorithms for the car. Our research shows that with the game, the students learn the material more deeply, and they are more engaged in their work.
