An after-school reading program for at-risk first and second grade students at DeKalb's Brooks Elrmentary School involves 21 NIU students from Communications Disorders, College of Health and Human Sciences. The NIU students are trained to diagnose communications difficulties and implement appropriate interventions that help struggling readers.
