Camille Dreyfus Teacher – Scholar Awards Program

The Camille & Henry Dreyfus Foundation supports the research and teaching careers of talented young faculty in the chemical sciences. The program provides unrestricted research grants of $75,000 to early career faculty who have attained an independent body of scholarship within the first five (5) years of their appointment as independent researchers, and a demonstrated commitment to education.  Awards are generally for five (5) years and include $7,500 for departmental expenses associated with research and education. Defrayal of academic year salary is not permitted.

Limited Submission Details

Institutions may make only one (1) nomination annually for the Camille Dreyfus Teacher-Scholar Awards Program.


The deadline for NIU to submit a nomination is February 10, 2014.


Internal NIU Process

If more than one (1) nomination is proposed, an internal competition will be held to determine the strongest nomination to submit. 

Faculty who intend to pursue this program, should file a brief statement of their intent to submit a proposal, specifying the nominating institutional representative to David Stone via e-mail ( with a cc to Kellie Dyslin ( by Thursday, December 19, 2013. Faculty will be notified Friday, December 20, 2013 if more than one statement of intent to submit is received and an internal competition is necessary. At this time, faculty will receive specific guidelines for submitting an internal proposal, which will be due by January 13, 2014. The qualifying proposal will be selected by Friday, January 17, 2014 allowing for development of full proposals for submission by the February 10, 2014 deadline.
