The February 14 Memorial Student Scholarship Fund
Beginning on February 14, 2009, five deserving NIU students will have the opportunity to live out their dreams in honor of the five students whose dreams were tragically cut short one year earlier. Scholarship recipients will earn the awards based on character and will be known as Forward Together Forward Scholars, a distinction amongst the most prestigious at NIU.
The Julianna Gehant Memorial Scholarship Fund
This scholarship will benefit a student majoring in elementary education with preference for those with military service. Julianna served her country proudly for thirteen years and one month in the U.S. Army and Army Reserves. She was a dean's list student majoring in elementary education. The fund was established to celebrate her life, values, and indomitable spirit.
The Ryanne Mace Endowed Scholarship Fund
Ryanne's parents, Eric and Mary Kay Mace are creating this scholarship in memory of their only child. The scholarship will benefit graduate students in psychology studying clinical or school psychology. Ryanne was known for her kindness, and she loved helping others, which was why she chose psychology as her major.
The Daniel Parmenter Memorial Student Scholarship Funds
At 6-foot-4, Daniel Parmenter clearly stood out in a crowd, but it was his character, passion for life, and willingness to help others that made him stand out as a leader. Dan was a finance major and valued member of the Northern Star team. He will be remembered for his intelligence, honesty, work ethic, and curiosity.
