Counseling Resources

The Office of Support and Advocacy provides individual, couples, family and group counseling services.  Services are private and confidential.  Appointments can be arranged by contacting OSA at (815) 753-0940. The focus of counseling is to help students and families resolve personal difficulties which may or may not be directly related to the campus tragedy.

The OSA offers several support groups for individuals most affected by 2/14/08:

  • An on-campus student group focused on fostering resilience and learning ways to effectively deal with stress.  This group will be arranged according to participant’s schedules.

  • Family Support Groups will be held during the academic year from 6:00- 8:00 p.m. at the NIU Hoffman Estates Regional Center, Room 107. Please RSVP the day before the meeting by calling 815-753-0940.
