Graduate Student Leaders

Orientation & First-Year Experience announces a graduate student leadership opportunity for Fall 2013!

First-Year Connections is recruiting Graduate Student Leaders to work collaboratively on a UNIV 101/201 teaching team. Graduate Student Leaders will help implement the curriculum, facilitate class discussions, and apply student development theory to practice in a first-year classroom. This is a volunteer position open to graduate students who meet the following qualifications:

  • Have a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher
  • Have completed at least one semester of graduate coursework at NIU
  • Demonstrate an ability to communicate effectively to a class of first-year students
  • Have 4-5 hours per week to commit to UNIV teaching responsibilities during fall 2013

Preference will be given to graduate students pursuing a degree in Counseling, Adult & Higher Education. Graduate Student Leaders have the opportunity to earn two units of CAHA 597 independent research credit. A maximum of ten Graduate Students will be selected for Fall 2013.
