That’s why NIU’s award-winning eLearning Services designs our online courses in accordance with the best practices in online instruction.  We will be pinning NIU Online Quality badges to the courses we have reviewed that meet our high standards--the same standards espoused by Quality Matters™.

Quality MattersNIU subscribes to Quality Matters™, an international organization that researches and promotes the highest quality in online learning. At NIU, we are building a peer review process that tests each course against the rigorous Quality Matters™ rubric to meet the newest standard.

With support from eLearning Services and Faculty Development, our distinguished faculty bring their experience and expertise into the world of online learning. The instructional designers in eLearning Services are specialists in using technology to support student success. They are skilled in graphic design, video production, learning theory and assessment. The experts in Faculty Development assist faculty in maximizing the technology to provide a supportive learning experience to their students.

A network of support

Learning online doesn’t mean you’re alone. NIU supports you every step of the way, from browser tests and samples of an online course to full access to technical and academic support. In addition, through NIU Adult Learners you can join a community of online learners to network and discuss issues important to you.
