Information for Parents

The OneCard ID is the official identification card of Northern Illinois University. It is the key to accessing all student privileges on campus (i.e.: meal plans, Huskie Bucks, door access, library services, recreation center access – for a complete list see OneCard Uses). The OneCard may also be linked to a TCF checking account and can then be used as a debit card for purchases from that account.

The first OneCard is free of charge, but there is a $25.00 fee to replace a lost ID. For verification purposes, your student will need to provide his/her NIU Z-ID/Account Number and permanent address. For further information on obtaining a OneCard, see Getting My OneCard.

Huskie Bucks

Huskie Bucks is a pre-paid debit account that your student can open with the university. Huskie Bucks are accepted as a method of payment for food on and off campus (where designated), parking permits, copying, laundry, etc.

Depositing Huskie Bucks:

All Huskie Bucks and Meal Plan transactions may be viewed by logging onto Blackboard and selecting the MyOneCard tab. You will need your student’s login and password information to access this. Click here for more details.
