Tuition and Fee Payment
Spring Semester 2008:
Tuition and fees are subject to change at any time. The official charges are those assessed by the Bursar’s Office during the payment period for that term. The current tuition and fee rates are posted on the Bursar Office website at www.niu.edu/bursar/studinf/tuition.shtml.
A Technology Surcharge will also be charged. It is $50.00 per semester for students taking 6 or less credit hours and $100.00 per semester for students taking more than 6 credit hours.
Regional fee:
You will be assessed an off-campus course delivery fee of at least $50 for each credit hour in which you enroll.
In addition, many courses at regional sites are assessed at different rates which can vary from $50-$315 per credit hour. Course related material fees may also be assessed. Consult specific course listings at www.outreach.niu.edu/rcc for applicable fees.
Registration:
See “Tuition and fee payment for registration” in the front of this document.
For late registration and add/drop:
If you participate in late registration or add/drop, you will be mailed a statement at your permanent home address in the next monthly billing cycle following the date on which you register. Your payment will be due in the Bursar’s Office by the date shown on the bill you receive. If you are registered for a contract course, you will be expected to pay in full at the first class meeting.
WARNING:
Tuition and fee payment must be received in the Bursar’s Office by the payment deadline on the statement. Checks returned to the university for insufficient funds will be assessed a service charge. If after registering for classes you decide not to attend NIU, you must officially withdraw from the university in order to ensure that your enrollment will reflect your withdrawal and so that any appropriate adjustment can be made to your tuition and payment or refund status. (See “Definitions and Policies,” this document, for withdrawal information.)
NOTES:
If you register for both on-campus and off-campus courses, your fee assessment will include charges for both types of courses. If you register for an off-campus fall session course, you must pay tuition and fees unless you officially drop the course as outlined in this section.
