Computers & Technology

Computer Access

All registered students are assigned a login ID (Z-ID). Your login ID remains permanent throughout your NIU career. For more information, please visit the ITS Website or contact the ITS Helpdesk at (815) 753-8100.

Computer access is available in the Learning Resource Centers (LRC) at each center during these times:

  • Monday-Thursday: 8:00 a.m. – 9:30 p.m.
  • Friday: 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
  • Saturday: 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. (NIU Naperville only)

Computer access is available in computer labs from:

  • Monday-Thursday: 5:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m. 
  • Saturday: 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. (NIU Naperville only)

Wireless network access is also available in the Outreach Centers. Access our wireless network by choosing the network connection “NIUguest.” No special software is needed.

Classroom Technology & Technology Support

Outreach Center classrooms provide the following standard equipment and services:

  • Podium equipped with a DVD/VCR player, CPU, document camera, and ceiling mounted data projector, along with a whiteboard and drop-down screen
  • On-site technical support
  • Portable equipment is available for rooms without in-room technology
  • online 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
