Academic Requirements

Admission to the major is limited to those students holding an A.A.S. degree in a discipline directly related to the program emphasis. All majors must meet NIU’s requirements for general education (29-41 hours), complete a minimum of 40 hours of course work at the 300-400 level and earn a minimum of 30 hours at NIU. It is expected that students needing to complete additional general education course work would be able to do so at their community colleges with course selection assistance from NIU advisors.

In addition to the general education credits that transfer to NIU, students can also receive up to 30 proficiency credits for the technical coursework completed in the qaulified A.A.S. degree.  These credits are  awarded when all other degree requirements are completed.
