OSHA Outreach Trainer Authorization

The OSHA Outreach Trainer Authorization (Train-the-Trainer) Program authorizes those who complete the training program to teach 10-Hour and 30-Hour Hazard Awareness Courses for Maritime Industry.

In order to enroll in OSHA #5400: Trainer Course in Occupational Safety and Health Standards for Maritime Industry, participants must meet prerequisite requirements to be eligible.

Prerequisites for OSHA #5400: 

  • OSHA #5410 Occupational Safety and Health Standards for Maritime Industry
  • Have three years maritime industry experience
  • Have two years of occupational safety and health experience (with a broad focus) in any industry, OR
    • College degree in Occupational Safety and Health
    • Associate Safety Professional (ASP)
    • Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
    • Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)
    • Certified Marine Chemist (CMC)
    • Certified Safety Health Manager (CSHM)

Prerequisites must be completed BEFORE registering for OSHA #5400. NO EXCEPTIONS. Please complete the Pre-requisite Form for verification.

Initial trainer Course Prerequisite Form

Trainers will need to renew their Outreach Trainer Card every four years. Trainers have 90 days after the four year expiration to complete OSHA #5402 to maintain their Outreach Trainer Card.
