Northern View Community has a team of professionals and student staff ready to help you. Our staff is focused on making your experience at NIU productive and comfortable.

Hi! My name is Melissa Burlingame, and I am your Northern View Community Director. I have been at Northern Illinois University for some time and I am excited to be a resource for you. I earned my Bachelor's Degree in Sociology here at NIU. During that time I lived in the Residence Halls and worked various positions in the Dining Hall, at the Front Desk, at Founder's Memorial Library, and rounded off my experience as a Community Advisor for two years. I also was fortunate to be involved in a number of campus organizations, like Hall Council, Golden Key, and the Campus Activities Board. I stayed at NIU to earn my Master of Public Administration Degree. For the past two years, I have worked as a Residence Hall Director in Douglas Hall and have gained even more knowledge about the campus that I love. As your Community Director, I am here to oversee the daily operations of the Northern View Community and provide program opportunities in collaboration with Graduate Assistant Community Coordinator and the Community Development Assistants. I look forward to helping the Northern View Community grow and succeed. I can't wait to meet each of you and build a strong community.

As the Graduate Assistant Community Director, my responsibilities include: Facilities management, tenant check-in/out, inspections, key control, task forces, and inclusive community development. Thank you for choosingNorthern View Community as your "Home Away from Home" while pursuing your degree at NIU. I hope your experience here is as wonderful and positive as mine has been.
