NEW: Rumor of the Week
Thursday’s Board of Trustees meeting will be broadcast online via live streaming video from Altgeld Hall. The meeting can be viewed live at http://live.media.niu.edu.
Items on the agenda include a resolution honoring President John Peters for 10 years of continuing leadership, a resolution honoring Student Trustee Matthew Venaas and Board of Trustees officer election results for Fiscal Year 2011.
Lyndon Perkins has a map of the United States on the wall of his Adams Hall office, but he has stopped keeping track of all the cities that he visits while recruiting graduate students to NIU.
“I told my graduate students, ‘Don’t put any more pins in that map,’ ” laughs Perkins, NIU’s director of Graduate School recruitment and student support services. “It makes me tired looking at it.”
Leigh Owano of Rockford was helping get out the vote in local elections even before she was old enough to cast her own ballot.
Now the NIU junior is preparing to experience the political scene at a whole new level.
