Denise D. Schoenbachler

Denise D. Schoenbachler, currently chair of the Marketing Department, will become dean of the College of Business in July. She earned her master's and Ph.D. degrees while raising two small children. She was the only woman in the Department of Marketing when she came in 1992, but she paved the way for six female faculty members who have joined the department since then. A first-rate teacher, she also has published extensively and has generously co-authored articles with junior faculty to help them get started in scholarship. She has developed a faculty mentoring program in her department, and she is known for her consistent focus on students. She is equally at home with her daughter's 4-H Club or the Ogle County Fair board and meeting with business executives on her college's Executive Advisory Board. Her new role will only extend the impact she has had in her career to date.
