| Julie L. Crouch
Like many NIU students, Julie L. Crouch, the associate director of the Center for the Study of Family Violence and Sexual Assault, worked to support herself while pursuing her education. She has distinguished herself as a student and then as a professional throughout her career. One of her NIU doctoral professors says that she is without question the best clinical psychology Ph.D. student the department has had. In her first professional job at the Medical College of the University of South Carolina, she won the Clinical Supervision Excellence Award and the Role Model/Professional Development Award in the same year. NIU brought her here in her current role in 1998. To date, she has published 24 scholarly papers and book chapters and been the principal investigator or co-PI on federal grants totaling more than $7.3 million. Her research focuses on parental abuse of children. In her research and as a role model, Julie is an amazing NIU graduate and staff member.
