Patricia Boesche

Patricia Boesche, the longtime business manager of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, works with 136 funds, 30 unit heads, about 75 principal investigators and all of the secretaries in the college. She educates a new set of department chairs and division directors every year, keeps departmental secretaries current on the management of the PeopleSoft system, fixes budget problems and, when that isn't possible, delivers bad news with sympathy and clear explanations. Pat's budgetary creativity is credited with diminishing the pain of recent budget cuts. Her organizational skills re-energized the college's involvement in Homecoming and alumni events, and her work with a local Quilters' Guild raised funds for mammograms for women who could not afford them. As her nominators say, Pat is one of those people who, without fanfare, works to make things happen.
