Michael Day named to national post on computers, composition

NIU English Professor Michael Day has been appointed to a key post with the Conference on College Composition and Communication (CCCC).

Day will serve as chair of the organization's Committee on Computers in Composition and Communication. The committee includes nine appointed members and a task force of more than a dozen volunteers who contribute ideas and feedback on a regular basis.

The committee works on issues related to computers and writing in composition and communication, especially as they relate to teaching, access, program administration, and promotion and tenure.

CCCC is a non-profit organization of about 7,000 regular members and 1,000 student members. It was founded in 1949 as a conference of the National Council of Teachers of English. CCCC offers many services for all those responsible for the teaching of composition and communication skills at the college level, particularly in undergraduate programs.

The conference also provides a forum in which directors of composition programs, community college teachers, researchers, technical writers, graduate assistants, theorists, media specialists and many others can share their special insights and concerns.
