STATE OF THE UNIVERSITY ADDRESS
The President will give his State of the University Address at 3 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 3, in the Carl Sandburg Auditorium of the Holmes Student Center. A reception will follow at approximately 3:45 p.m. in Alumni Court outside the HSC.

BARSEMA HALL OPENING CELEBRATION TODAY
Barsema Hall's opening celebration begins at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 23, with a lecture by Dennis Barsema in the Barsema Auditorium. At noon, an opening celebration and program will be held in the atrium, and building tours will run from 12:30 to 3 p.m.

FACULTY AND STAFF MEMBERS INVITED TO JOIN 'NBA'
NIU faculty and staff are invited to join the Noon Ball Association, commonly referred to as "the NBA" by longtime participants. The organized pick-up basketball games run from noon to 1:30 p.m. each Monday, Wednesday and Friday at the Recreation Center. Courts are reserved specifically for faculty and staff to play during those times. Play is open to all ages and abilities. PCSO TRAVEL FUNDING AVAILABLE
NIU's Presidential Committee on Sexual Orientation has limited travel funds available to help support faculty, staff and graduate students who wish to attend conferences, workshops or seminars for the purpose of learning about or presenting scholarship on lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender topics. Individuals requesting funds will be asked to submit a PCSO Request for Travel Support form, including a breakdown of costs and other sources of funding support. All travel must take place in the current fiscal year (July 1, 2002, to June 30, 2003).To apply for funds or for more information, contact Tara Dirst at 753-1004 or e-mail tdirst@niu.edu.

INTERNATIONAL WEEK ON CAMPUS
International Programs is hosting several events this week as part of their International Week celebration. Events include a Study Abroad Fair from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 24, in the Holmes Student Center ballroom; the fourth annual International Recognition Reception from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 25, in the Clara Sperling Sky Room, and an International Parade of Flags at 11:45 a.m. Friday, Sept. 27, beginning at Stadium Drive East to Lucinda Avenue and continuing to the MLK Commons. SPRING SOFTWARE INSTALLATION REQUEST DEADLINE
Monday, Oct. 14, is the deadline for all new software installation requests for student computing labs managed by Information Technology Services. A signed installation form, verification of licensing, original media and proof of purchase should accompany each request. Requests will be received by the ITS Customer Support Center, 120 Swen Parson Hall. The software installation request form is online at http://www.its.niu.edu/its/formsproc/software_install_form.pdf.
