A note to our readers ... Northern Today goes completely electronicBeginning Monday, Oct. 7, look for Northern Today in your e-mail box instead of your campus mailbox. The Oct. 7 issue will mark a major change for the faculty/staff newsletter when it goes totally electronic. No printed version will be produced. A mass e-mail will be sent to faculty and staff with brief story summaries and links to each issue online. (Each current issue and all archived issues already can be accessed at www.niu.edu/northerntoday). The electronic format will include all the same features our readers enjoy in the printed version of the newsletter and will allow us to communicate the latest news and information in a timelier manner because printing, bundling and mailing the newsletter no longer will be a concern, nor will the expenses associated with those tasks. You will not receive a printed or electronic version of Northern Today next Monday, Sept. 30, as we transition to a bi-weekly (every other week) format. Faculty and staff members with e-mail accounts on systems other than GroupWise and our readers who currently receive Northern Today through U.S. mail are encouraged to send their e-mail addresses to northerntoday@niu.edu or call (815) 753-1681 to be added to the electronic distribution list. |
