Steve Sarver, Staff Secretary Development Operations

Steve Sarver has worked in the Development office since January 2000. Prior to coming to NIU, he worked in law offices for six years.
What are the responsibilities of your position? I provide full-time administrative support to the director of Development Operations, prepare narrative and statistical reports, manage and coordinate requests for information and reports from the university database and provide training for new staff.
How did you choose your profession? I've always wanted to work in an office environment, and I enjoy the opportunity to work with computers.
What's the best part about your job? I work with great people in a positive campus environment.
What's something unique about your position? The opportunity to come in contact with just about every area of campus
If you weren't in your current job field, what would you be doing? I might be a professional electrician or a tour guide at the state capitol in Springfield.
What are you reading? Any one of several hundred books on the space program, sports, or politics and government
What music are you listening to lately? Any score composed by John Williams
What good movies have you seen lately? Star Wars Episode II, Harry Potter, any James Bond movie
Do you have a favorite TV show? Survivor, Star Trek
