RETIREMENT RECEPTION FOR BISCHOFF JUNE 19 The Department of Kinesiology and Physical Education invites the NIU community to a retirement reception for Judy Bischoff from 1 to 4 pm. Wednesday, June 19, in the Holmes Student Center Regency Room. Bischoff has served NIU for more than 26 years. JOIN THE "WALK THIS WAY" EXERCISE CLASS The Office of Campus Recreation is offering a "Walk This Way!" exercise class this summer. The class includes different walking routes on and around campus and information on a variety of topics such as flexibility, nutrition, fitness and strength training. Class begins Tuesday, June 18, and runs through Thursday, Aug. 8. Participants should check in between noon and 1 p.m.,, but may start walking anytime between 11:30 a.m. and 12:15 p.m. Cost for the class is $15 and participants completing 13 classes will receive a free t-shirt. Three optional Wednesday activities of body toning, self-defense and yoga also are scheduled. To participate, sign up at the Campus Recreation Center by Friday, June 14. STEAM SHUTDOWN ON CAMPUS MAY 23-30 There will be a steam shutdown on campus from 9 a.m. Thursday, May 23, to 4 p.m. Thursday, May 30, for maintenance on steam distribution equipment. JOIN THE SICK LEAVE BANK THROUGH MAY 31 Regularly appointed employees may join the Regular Sick Leave Bank during the Benefit Choice Period held through Friday, May 31. Since days in this benefit account now are below the policy requirements, all previous participants and new participants must donate at least one day from their compensable sick leave account to remain active in this program. In the event an employee does not have compensable sick time, it will be deducted from his/her non-compensable sick leave account in accordance with policy guidelines. To donate one or more days, an employee must have accrued at least 11 sick days so there would be 10 remaining days of accumulated sick time. For more information, contact Joanne Hulmes at 753-6026.
CUBS/WHITE SOX TRIP HOSTED BY CREDIT UNION The NIU Employees Federal Credit Union is sponsoring a trip to Wrigley Field for the Chicago Cubs vs. Chicago White Sox game at 1:20 p.m. Sunday, June 16. Tickets go on sale at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 22. Tickets are $32 or $38, which includes transportation. The bus will leave the Chick Evans Field House parking lot at 9:30 a.m. on game day. "SHREK" TO BE SHOWN OUTDOORS ON JUNE 7 Intercollegiate Athletics invites all to a free outdoor showing of "Shrek" at 7:30 p.m. Friday, June 7, at Huskie Stadium. The movie will be shown on the jumbo scoreboard screen, and all are welcome to bring blankets, lawn chairs and snacks. No concessions will be served, and gum and glass containers will not be allowed.
