TEACHER PLACEMENT DAY HELD TODAY AT NIU
All student teachers and educators are invited to Teacher Placement Day, held today, March 25, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Chick Evans Field House. There is no fee and participants should bring a resume for registration. More than 175 regional and national school districts will be in attendance. ATTEND MICROSOFT ACCESS SEMINAR
NIU faculty and staff are invited to attend the Advanced Microsoft Access seminar at Kishwaukee College. The seminar will focus mainly on Visual Basic Programming. The time and date will be determined after at least four participants sign up. ATHLETICS COMMITTEE SEEKS NOMINATIONS
Intercollegiate Athletics is seeking nominations for their athletic Hall of Fame by Monday, April 15. Criteria for induction include outstanding contributions to NIU's Intercollegiate Athletics. Student athletes and teams are eligible 10 years from the final year of competition; coaches, administrators and staff are eligible five years from their retirement or departure from NIU. APRIL CELEBRATES LGBT AWARENESS MONTH

NIU EMPLOYEES TO RECEIVE E-MAIL SURVEY
Many NIU employees soon will receive an e-mail from Literary Education Professor Susan Vogel, who is part of a team working to enhance access to information and accommodations for students with disabilities. The e-mail will ask questions regarding what information about students with disabilities is needed and of interest, how the information should be provided and in what time frame. NOMINATIONS SOUGHT FOR EYCHANER AWARD
The Presidential Committee on Sexual Orientation and Prism are seeking nominations for the Eychaner Award, which is presented annually to recognize individuals affiliated with NIU who have demonstrated outstanding leadership and service on behalf of people who are lesbian, gay, bisexual and/or transgender. The award will be presented to an NIU student and a NIU employee or alumnus/a. NIU SWIM TEAM OFFERS LESSONS FOR CHILDREN
The NIU Swim Team is holding a program for children ages 3 to 13. The clinic will teach basic swim techniques. All sessions will be held at Gabel Hall pool and the cost is $50. Session I runs April 1-12, and Session II runs April 15-26. There are four time slots available for each session. NIU ALUMNI ASSOCIATION PLANS TRIP TO GREECE
The NIU Alumni Association will host a trip to Greece from Sept. 19-29, 2002. The adventure begins in Athens, where travelers will view architectural marvels such as the Parthenon, Agora and the Proplysia. Travelers will then board the Royal Olympic cruise ship for a four-day voyage. Sociology Professor George Kourvetaris, a native of Greece, will be the faculty host. The cost for the trip is $2,249 for an inside stateroom or $2,349 for an ocean-view stateroom per person, based on double occupancy. BIOMEDICAL ETHICS EXPERTS TO SPEAK
Two experts in biomedical ethics will deliver a public lecture on "Euthanasia in the Netherlands" at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 2, in the Holmes Student Center Clara Sperling Sky Room. The visiting speakers are Gerrit Kimsma and Evert VanLeeuwen, both of Free University Medical School in Amsterdam. Kimsma is a philosopher and practicing physician, and VanLeeuwen is a philosopher and medical ethicist. Euthanasia is legal in the Netherlands, and both men serve on euthanasia review boards. Kimsma and VanLeeuwen also are editors for international biomedical ethics journals. The lecture is free to the public, and time will be reserved for questions from the audience. Light refreshments will be served. Kishwaukee Community Hospital and the NIU Ethics Consortium, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and Graduate School are sponsoring the event.
