NIU to join hospital's health care career night

by Mark McGowan

Representatives from NIU's College of Health and Human Sciences are joining with Kishwaukee Community Hospital and other area colleges to turn the spotlight on careers in health care.

In cooperation with the Kishwaukee Education to Careers Partnership, the hospital is sponsoring a career fair from 6 to 8:15 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20, at the hospital for students from eighth-grade into college, their parents and other adults interested in jobs in health care.

Participating schools include NIU, Kishwaukee College, Kishwaukee Education Consortium, Rock Valley College and the University of Illinois College of Medicine.

"Kishwaukee Community Hospital is responding to present and future demands in health care service by encouraging students and adults to consider health care careers," hospital spokeswoman Sharon Emanuelson said.

NIU is a leader in preparing tomorrow's health care professionals.

The College of Health and Human Sciences offers programs in nursing, physical therapy, clinical laboratory sciences, public and community health, nutrition, dietetics and hospitality administration. The career opportunities are limitless, including everything from traditional health care to legal work investigating malpractice claims and forensic work investigating crimes and deaths.
