Meet some of the new faces on campus this fall

Darnell Bradley University Programming and Activities
As program coordinator for Fraternity and Sorority Affairs, Darnell Bradley will work on educational programs and currently is working with the Marett Scholarship, IMPACT, Tony Fusaro Leadership Institute, Greek Week and all educational speakers. He received his undergraduate and graduate degrees from Eastern Illinois University and is pursuing his Ph.D. in political science here at NIU. He is a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. His spare time is spent relaxing with his wife, LaTania, and his two sons, Javin and London. |

Paul Carpenter Kinesiology and Physical Education
Paul Carpenter is the new chair of the Department of Kinesiology and Physical Education. His main responsibilities include preparing the department budget, developing department policies, directing personnel matters, managing department facilities and assisting in the implementation of the department's academic programs. Before joining NIU, he was head of sport science at the University of East London in London, England. Carpenter earned both his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in kinesiology at the University of California, Los Angeles. He specializes in the social psychology of exercise and sport, with a particular focus on young children's physical activity involvement. Carpenter enjoys spending time his wife and son and cycling. |

Meri Goehring Allied Health Professions
Meri Goehring is a new faculty member in the physical therapy department of the School of Allied Health Professions. She worked as a physical therapy clinician in orthopedic, rehabilitation and geriatric care settings for 20 years before entering the academic world. Goehring received both her Bachelor of Science degree in physical therapy and her Master of Health Science degree from Wichita State University in Wichita, Kansas. She is board certified by the American Physical Therapy Association as a Geriatric Clinical Specialist. Most recently, she was an assistant professor in the Wichita State University Department of Physical Therapy. She is currently working on her doctoral degree in physical therapy from Nova Southeastern University in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. She enjoys spending time with her husband, a classically trained chef, and her two teenage boys. |

Jennifer Hoobler Management
Jennifer Hoobler, an assistant professor in the Department of Management, teaches courses on human resource management and organizational behavior. She earned her Ph.D. in business administration from the University of Kentucky in May, and her research interests include abusive supervisors, workplace violence, and gender and work. Previously, Hoobler worked for State Farm Insurance in Bloomington and the Illinois Department of Transportation Division of Traffic Safety in Springfield. Hoobler enjoys ethnic cooking and will be running in the Chicago half-marathon next month. |

Kwanda Scott Student Housing
Kwanda Scott is residence hall director for Grant B Tower. Her responsibilities include participating in residential life team assessments, supervising the community adviser in B Tower, facilitating room changes, managing room occupancy, monitoring residential curriculum plans and facilitating the Right Track Program. Scott previously worked at National-Louis University in Evanston as assistant director for residence life. She hold a B.A. degree in psychology and a M.S. in Human Services Counseling, both from National-Louis. In her spare time, Scott loves listening to music, singing karaoke and watching movies. |

Michele Stieren Economics
Michele Stieren joins the Department of Economics as the undergraduate secretary. Her primary focus is to maintain accurate records of all undergraduate economics majors and minors as well as provide general office support. Before coming to NIU, she was a program assistant in the Center for Adult Education and Literacy at Lincoln Land Community College in Springfield. Stieren is currently completing her bachelor's degree in sociology/anthropology with a minor in criminal justice. She enjoys spending time with her active 5-year-old son and her significant other, Dale, and aquainting herself with DeKalb and the surrounding cities. |

Samuel Walker Enterprise Systems Support
Samuel Walker is responsible for Windows Server development for Enterprise Systems Support and currently is working on the SAN (Storage Area Network) and SQL Server. He is a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer for Windows 2000 (MCSE-2K). Prior to joining NIU, he was employed at Waubonsee Community College, VoiceStream Wireless and NovaNET Learning, Inc. In his free time, Walker likes all types of games: board, strategy, role-playing, video and logic, and also enjoys weight-lifting, political activism and debate.
