Establish yourself as a globally recognized project management professional when you earn a prestigious Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM)® or Project Management Professional (PMP)® credential.

Why Should You Be Certified?

Project management is a rapidly growing profession with an anticipated 1.57 million new jobs created worldwide each year through 2020. Earning the CAPM® or PMP® credential will distinguish you in the job market and demonstrate that you have the experience, education, and competency to be a valuable contributor and leader to project teams. Both credentials are awarded by the Project Management Institute (PMI)®.

The CAPM® credential awarded is appropriate for early career professionals or project team members seeking opportunities to manage larger projects and gain more responsibility or add project management skills to your current role. This certification denotes that the individual possesses the knowledge in the principles and terminology of A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK® Guide), which outlines generally recognized good practices in project management. Individuals who contribute specialized skills to a project team can benefit from this certification by allowing them to align their work with that of project managers.

The PMP® credential is one of the most highly demanded credentials in the global marketplace and is appropriate for mid to senior level professionals who lead and direct projects. PMP®s command higher salaries than non-credentialed professionals.

The NIU Project Management Certification Prep program will prepare candidates for both certification exams, however the body of knowledge content covered in the program is more comprehensive than what is covered on the CAPM® exam and focuses on detailed content relevant to the PMP® examinations. The program is appropriate to project team members and professionals who manage, lead or participate in projects including, but not limited to the following types of business and industry:
