SHRM's Essentials® of HR Management
This program is a must for anyone in the business of managing people. Knowing the essentials can keep you and your company out of trouble, make you a better manager, improve workplace morale, help with performance management, and protect your company from needless litigation.
Knowledge of the basic HR concepts covered in this program will help establish a foundation for implementing effective HR practices and policies within your organization.
SHRM's Essentials® of HR Management is an interactive and engaging introductory course offering a comprehensive overview of human resource roles and responsibilities. This program provides participants with critical knowledge to help reduce potentially costly lawsuits and improves their ability to handle challenging HR issues.
The content of this course addresses six key human resource management subjects:
- Human Resource Management (Understanding the HR Function);
- Employment Law (Application of Key HR Legislation);
- Recruitment and Selection (Employee Selection);
- Compensation and Benefits (Elements of a Total Compensation System);
- Employee Development (Orientation, Development and Training); and
- Performance Management (Purpose and Process for Performance Evaluation).
This program blends instructor-led classroom learning with online learning activities, quizzes and a final post course assessment. Online reference tools and resources are available for use in the workplace. Participants will be required to attend the two day interactive course and complete post classroom online learning activities and final course examination for award of CEU's/Certificate of Completion. Students will receive an e-mail communication from The SHRM Distribution Center

Fees are inclusive of the SHRM Essentials of HR Management course materials, continental breakfast, lunch and break service. Participants will receive materials at the program.
PAYMENT PLAN OPTION TERMS & CONDITIONS: The credit card payment plan option is available for registrations completed at least 30 days in advance of the program start date. Payment terms: 25% of the total cost will be charged to the credit card at time of registration. Any outstanding balance will be charged to the credit card 14 days prior to the program start. Payments may be made prior to the final due date by contacting Outreach Registration (800) 345-9472. Payment in full must be confirmed before shipment of any course materials. Standard cancellation policies apply.

Illinois Veterans and Illinois National Guard Grant Programs: This program is not eligible for funding under the IL Veterans and IL National Guard Grants. IVG and ING grants apply only to those programs assessing tuition and mandatory fees. NIU Outreach is licensed to deliver this program by the sponsoring professional organization. The registration fee for this program is not based on tuition and fees and includes course materials, licensing fees, catering services, and instructional costs not covered by the IVG/ING grants.
