The Business of Facility Management An IFMA Fundamentals Based Course

The Business of Facility Management course is a four day program covering topics relevant to the principles, characteristics, theories and concepts of the facility management business.  Participants will assess their degree of knowledge in each of the nine competency areas defined by the profession.  The course concludes with a group case study learning activity.  This is one of the four required courses to earn your Facilities Management Professional® (FMP®) certification.  The FMP certification is awarded by the International Facility Management Association.  Upon completion of the FMP series of classes (Business of Facility Management, Leadership and Management, Operations and Maintenance, and Planning and Project Management) participants will need to apply to IFMA to complete the certification process (www.ifma.org).  Participants meeting the requirements of the NIU program (attendance and exams) will be awarded a certificate of completion at the conclusion of each course.  These certificates are documentation that you have successfully completed each course required to be awarded the FMP credential.

Become familiar with the baseline competencies facility managers must employ in order to be successful. Learn about the different methods to gather knowledge about various FM related topics, and discover whether “going green” is here to stay or just a fad.
