What kind of stories do you consider for the NIU home page features?

Home page features include a wide variety of topics that are considered timely and newsworthy for our broad readership, which includes prospective and current students, faculty and staff, alumni and the general public.

Examples of submission ideas that will be considered: campus programming and extracurricular activities, research and profiles of unique student and/or faculty accomplishments.

In what other ways can events be publicized?

All departments and university-recognized organizations are welcome to post their events on the NIU Calendar. We also recommend that you advertise upcoming events on your department’s website.

How do I recommend a student for
the “NI You” feature?

To recommend an undergraduate or graduate student for the “NI You” feature, please send the student’s name, major, contact information and reason(s) for recommendation to publicaffairs@niu.edu with the subject “NI You recommendation.” We will contact the student for further information.

Please note that the Office of Public Affairs reserves the right to select or decline recommendations, and that not all students who are recommended will be asked to participate.
