For the third straight year, BusinessWeek Magazine has ranked the NIU College of Business among the best undergraduate business schools in the nation, moving up eight spots over last year’s survey.
For the rankings, the magazine conducted a rigorous review of the academic performance of students at each school. It also incorporated feedback from companies that recruit new college graduates and a survey of the students themselves. Those corporate recruiters ranked NIU 48th, while results of the student satisfaction survey placed the NIU College of Business 50th on that list.
Helping the NIU College of Business score well in both those categories was the college’s emphasis on bringing the business world into the classroom. “Professors invite CEOs, presidents and high-level executives into the classroom to talk about the business world,” wrote one student. “The access to business contacts is extensive. I interact with alumni on a weekly basis and have opportunities to tour businesses regularly,” said another.
Among the five business schools in Illinois that qualified for the rankings, NIU was second only to the U of I.
