Volunteer Opportunities
CONFERENCE VOLUNTEER
There are numerous volunteer opportunities at the 2006 NASPA-IV East Conference in Chicago Oak Brook. The conference volunteer experience will allow you to interact with the conference committee, learn more about event planning, network with other professionals, and gain a better understanding of NASPA. Volunteers will be selected to participate but are not limited to the following functions:
- Assist with conference registration
- Greet attendees at the informational table
- Arrange AV/technical needs
- Prepare registration packets
- Introduce workshop speakers
- Collect workshop evaluations
As a conference volunteer, your involvement is at your discretion; however, committing two-hour increments would be helpful. Please e-mail Ebony Johnson at ekjohnson27@niu.edu if you would like to volunteer.
GRADUATE INTERN
Graduate Staff members serve as a vital component of the staffing of this volunteer-driven conference. Graduate Staff members will support the overall Conference Committee in delivering an excellent regional meeting for attendees. Graduate staff members should not expect to attend many educational sessions, as a majority of their time will be devoted to working as conference staff. Graduate Staff responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Staff conference registration tables
- Distribute and tally program evaluations
- Attend daily staff meetings
- Assist in conference office
- Post and remove signage
- Host exhibitors/sponsors
- Prepare vendor packets
- Assist with conference logistics
The benefits are extraordinary and continue long after the Regional Meeting. Graduate Staff will learn about conference management, gain valuable professional development resources, interact with faculty, major speakers & student affairs professionals, connect with fellow graduate students and meet prospective employers/
In return for serving on the Graduate Staff, NASPA will cover the cost of your conference registration (which includes conference meals).
