No audition is required.

Philharmonic, Wind Ensemble, and Wind Symphony require an audition, which takes place the weekend before classes begin and during the first few days of classes. Sign-up sheets for auditions are located near room 156 of the Music Building.

All jazz ensembles require an audition. Sign-up sheets for auditions are located near room 156 of the Music Building. You should be prepared to play one jazz standard and one blues (improvise on both). There will also be some sight-reading. We audition for jazz combos at this time, too. And, be sure to check out the Huskie Marching Band!

The University Chorus (undergraduate MUSE 342, graduate MUSE 642) meets on Monday and Wednesday from 3:30-4:45 p.m. in room 171 of the Music Building. There is no audition, so if you are interested, just register and show up!

Concert Choir and Chamber Choir require an audition, which takes place during the first few days of classes.

Opera Theatre requires an audition. Check the bulletin boards near room 171 shortly before the term begins for information.

You will receive one hour of credit for each ensemble in which you participate.

Non-music majors may also participate in the Community School of the Arts, which offers music lessons and ensembles for people in the community. The teachers are community musicians, as well as School of Music graduate and undergraduate students and faculty. These activities do not carry any credit hours. Visit the Office of External Programs to learn more.
