Amy Rhodes enjoys an active career as a professional bassoonist and contrabassoonist in the Chicago area, where she performs regularly with the Chicago Sinfonietta, Ravinia Festival Orchestra, Lake Forest Symphony, Joffrey Ballet Orchestra, Elgin Symphony, Chicago Opera Theatre, Chicagoland Pops Orchestra, and the Fulcrum New Music Ensembles. She has also performed with the Lyric Opera of Chicago and the Milwaukee and Grant Park Symphony Orchestras.
She can be heard in recordings on Cedille Records and other labels, and has been part of many television and radio broadcasts on commercial and public stations. She has an active solo and chamber music career that includes regular performances at Birch Creek, Grant Park, and other national and international venues.
Ms. Rhodes has degrees from Central Michigan University, the University of New Hampshire, and Northwestern University. Her principal teachers were Robert Barris, Sherman Walt, Willard Elliot, William Waterhouse, and Louis Skinner.
