Bachelor's degree options include Performance, Music Education, Composition, and the Bachelor of Arts in Music.  Master of Music programs are available in Performance, the Individualized specialization, and Music Education.  We also offer the post-master's Performer's Certificate.

Applied string instrument instruction is provided in a variety of private and group settings.  In addition to several chamber groups featuring string instruments, students audition for and participate in the NIU Philharmonic.  String students may also participate in the Campus String Orchestra, which combines for concerts with the regional Kishwaukee Symphony Orchestra.
